Title: MRI Technologist

Location: Charleston, WV

Duration: 13 Weeks

Shift: Day Shift – 3x12 Hours (06:00 AM – 06:30 PM or 10:00 AM – 10:30 PM), occasional weekends

Job Responsibilities and Required/Preferred Skills & Requirements

The MRI Technologist is responsible for performing high-quality MRI procedures for both inpatient and outpatient populations while ensuring patient safety, accurate imaging, and compliance with departmental protocols. The technologist will work collaboratively with radiologists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals in a high-volume imaging department within a Level I Trauma and comprehensive stroke center environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform MRI examinations including abdomen, pelvis, head/neck, spine, and musculoskeletal imaging.

• Prepare and position patients for MRI procedures while ensuring safety and comfort.

• Start IV lines and administer contrast when required following proper protocols.

• Operate MRI equipment and ensure high-quality imaging and accurate documentation.

• Monitor patients during imaging procedures and respond to clinical needs as necessary.

• Collaborate with radiologists and interdisciplinary teams to support patient diagnosis and treatment.

• Maintain accurate records using electronic medical record systems and PACS.

• Adhere to departmental and facility safety standards and imaging protocols.

• Work with a team in a department performing approximately 20–25 exams per day.

Required Qualifications & Skills:

• Minimum 2 years of experience as a registered MRI Technologist.

• ARRT certification with Advanced MRI certification.

• West Virginia State License.

• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.

• Experience performing MRI procedures for abdomen, pelvis, head/neck, spine, and musculoskeletal studies.

• Experience working in outpatient, inpatient, and emergency room settings.

• Ability to perform IV starts.

• Strong knowledge of MRI safety protocols and imaging techniques.

• Ability to work effectively in a high-volume imaging department.

Preferred Qualifications & Skills:

• Experience with Philips MRI scanners.

• Familiarity with Cerner charting system and PACS/contrast imaging workflows.

• Experience in Level I Trauma centers, teaching hospitals, community hospitals, or adult ICU environments.

• Advanced MRI procedures including CINE imaging, diffusion imaging, gradient echo imaging, perfusion imaging, spectroscopy, post-processing, MIP/MPR reconstruction, and spin echo imaging.

• Experience with surface coils and advanced MRI image weighting techniques (T1 and T2).
