Description
Job Title: Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) – CVOR
Location: Columbus, Ohio (43210)
Duration: 13 Weeks
Shifts Available:
- Day/Mid: 2x12 (10:30 AM – 11:00 PM) 2x8 (2:30 PM – 11:00 PM)
- Night: 3x12 (6:30 PM – 7:00 AM)
- Weekend rotation & on-call required
- Must be flexible (may work within 6:30 AM – 11:00 PM range)
Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) specializing in Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR). The CST will play a critical role in supporting surgical teams during complex cardiac and vascular procedures by ensuring proper instrumentation, maintaining sterile fields, and assisting throughout surgical cases. This role requires strong clinical expertise in high-acuity, fast-paced environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and maintain sterile field for cardiovascular and thoracic surgeries
- Scrub and assist during complex procedures including CABG, EVAR, TEVAR, and valve replacements
- Handle, organize, and anticipate surgical instruments and supplies
- Perform instrument reprocessing for cardiovascular/thoracic cases
- Assist with crash cart readiness and emergency procedures
- Support both scrub and circulate roles as needed
- Ensure accurate equipment and procedure documentation (Epic)
- Adhere to strict aseptic and infection control protocols
- Collaborate effectively with surgeons, RNs, and surgical team members
Required Qualifications
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST)
- Minimum 5 years total CST experience
- At least 2 years in cardiac & vascular surgery
- Minimum 1 year CVOR experience
- Minimum 1 year experience in a Level I Trauma facility
- Strong scrub experience required
- Experience with cardiovascular/thoracic instrument reprocessing
- Current BLS certification
Required Skills
- General OR and CVOR procedures
- Thoracic and vascular surgical support
- Experience with procedures such as CABG, EVAR, TEVAR, valve replacements
- Proficiency in aseptic technique
- Familiarity with crash cart, scrub & circulate duties
- Strong documentation skills using Epic EMR
