Speech-Language Pathologist (Pediatric) – Contract Position
Location: Philadelphia, PA 19104
Duration: 13 Weeks
Schedule: 40 hours per week preferred; part-time candidates will be considered
Potential: Possibility for extension or conversion based on business needs
Job Summary
A leading pediatric healthcare organization is seeking a Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to provide comprehensive inpatient and outpatient speech, language, and dysphagia services to infants and children. The clinician will work with a diverse pediatric population presenting with neurological, developmental, and medically based communication and feeding/swallowing disorders.
Responsibilities include clinical evaluation, therapeutic intervention, interdisciplinary collaboration, caregiver education, and participation in instrumental swallowing assessments. Candidates with inpatient rehabilitation experience are strongly preferred.
Key Responsibilities
Patient Care- Independently evaluate pediatric patients with known or suspected communication disorders, including speech, language, and oral-motor dysfunction.
- Utilize standardized and non-standardized assessment tools to determine functional communication and feeding/swallowing abilities.
- Document evaluation findings in accordance with departmental and organizational standards.
- Develop individualized treatment plans with measurable goals and regularly update patient progress.
- Provide inpatient and outpatient speech and language therapy services.
- Perform and interpret videofluoroscopic swallow studies (VFSS).
- Implement evidence-based intervention strategies addressing speech, language, feeding, and swallowing needs.
- Educate and train families/caregivers on home therapy programs.
- Present clinical findings and treatment recommendations to families and interdisciplinary healthcare teams.
- Coordinate care and refer patients to appropriate medical, therapeutic, or educational services when necessary.
- Collaborate with physicians, therapists, educators, and healthcare professionals to support optimal patient outcomes.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- High level of analytical ability to independently assess clinical challenges and develop effective treatment plans.
- Advanced competency in pediatric speech and language assessment procedures.
- Experience managing communication and feeding/swallowing disorders in infants and children.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills for interdisciplinary collaboration and caregiver education.
- Fundamental research knowledge, including understanding of research methodology, study design, and basic statistics.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in inpatient rehabilitation settings.
- Pediatric dysphagia and instrumental swallow study experience.
- Background in medically complex pediatric populations.
