Job Description:
The Registered Respiratory Therapist I (RT-I) is licensed by the NYS Department of Education to perform respiratory therapy procedures, cardio-respiratory diagnostics, and patient assessments under the direction of a licensed physician. The RT-I is responsible for assessing, treating, and caring for patients with breathing disorders while ensuring accurate documentation and safe equipment operation. EPIC experience is required. Local candidates are not accepted per facility policy.

Responsibilities:

• Assess, treat, and manage patients with respiratory and cardiopulmonary disorders
• Perform respiratory therapy procedures and cardio-respiratory diagnostics
• Initiate and conduct therapeutic interventions and monitor patient responses
• Maintain accurate and complete patient records in the electronic medical record
• Select, assemble, test, and operate respiratory care equipment
• Supervise respiratory therapy technicians as needed
• Respond to emergency situations and perform critical care procedures
• Assist with patient transport (intra- and inter-hospital)
• Collaborate with physicians and healthcare teams to ensure optimal patient care
• Troubleshoot unclear or conflicting physician orders and communicate effectively with providers
• Prioritize emergent and non-emergent service requests
• Maintain compliance with infection control, safety standards, and ethical guidelines

Requirements:

• Minimum Associate Degree from an AMA-approved Respiratory Care program
• Active NYS Respiratory Therapist License with no disciplinary action
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; ACLS preferred
• Minimum 2 years of experience as an RRT
• Experience with both pediatric and adult critical care preferred
• Emergency department experience highly desirable
• Neonatal patient care exposure preferred
• Experience with patient transport (intra- and inter-hospital)
• EPIC EHR experience required
