Description

Job Title: RRT – ECMO Specialist (Nights)
Location: Minneapolis, MN 55407
Assignment Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Night 3x12-Hour (18:30 - 07:00)


Job Summary
Must have hands-on ECMO machine experience
  • Shift: 3x12 Nights (18:30–07:00); occasional rotation to days (06:30–19:00) as needed
  • Experience Required: Minimum 2 years as RRT 1 year as ECMO Specialist
  • First-Time Travelers: Accepted (must have at least 1-year ECMO experience)
  • Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
  • On-Call Requirement: Yes, as needed by the department
  • Floating: Required within scope based on facility needs
  • Block Scheduling: Can be discussed with the manager
  • Local Candidates: Accepted
  • License: Pending license accepted, must be active by start date
  • RTO (Requested Time Off): Ideally no more than 5 days

Airway Management Skills
  • Endotracheal tube care & suctioning
  • Intubation assist & extubation
  • Nasal/oral airway placement & suctioning
  • Tracheostomy care & suctioning
  • Pulmonary hygiene & sputum specimen collection
Patient Conditions Experience
  • ARDS, Aspiration, Bronchoscopy
  • COVID, ECMO, Fresh tracheostomy
  • Pneumonia
Medication Administration
  • Albuterol, Atrovent, Combivent, Flovent
  • Inhaled steroids, Flolan, Nitric Oxide (INo)
  • Mucomyst, Pulmicort, Racemic epinephrine
  • Spiriva, Tobramycin, Xopenex
Medication Delivery Systems
  • Aerosol mask and trach setup
Nebulizer Experience
  • Cold, Heated, Ultrasonic, Handheld
  • T-piece and Trach collar
Oxygen Therapy
  • Bag and mask, ET tube
  • High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC)
  • Portable oxygen tank
  • Protocol-driven ECMO, T-piece, Trach collar
Additional Clinical Skills
  • Arterial puncture
  • ABG interpretation and arterial blood gas collection
  • Chest physiotherapy (including vest therapy)
Ventilator Management
  • BiPAP, CPAP
  • SIMV ventilation
  • Troubleshooting high-pressure alarms
  • Mechanical ventilation weaning
  • Patient transport (intra-hospital & ambulance)
