Schedule: 3x12 or 4x12; Rotating Eves/Nights, Every Other Weekend

Float Required: Yes (within ED specialty, including 4 other ED locations)
Call Requirement: Not Required
Note: Fast-paced, high-volume ED; first-time travelers accepted with strong experience; holidays as scheduled

Position Overview:
The Emergency Room Registered Nurse provides direct, high-quality patient care in a fast-paced, high-acuity emergency department. The RN is responsible for rapid assessment, triage, stabilization, and treatment of patients across all age groups, ensuring optimal patient outcomes in critical situations.

Job duties:
Perform rapid triage and comprehensive patient assessments for emergency conditions across pediatric to geriatric populations
Administer emergency medications including IV vasopressors, sedation, and paralytics as indicated
Manage ventilated patients, BiPAP/CPAP, and assist with intubation procedures
Interpret cardiac rhythms, perform 12-lead EKGs, and respond to dysrhythmias and cardiac emergencies
Provide care for trauma, stroke (CVA), STEMI, and multi-system organ dysfunction patients
Initiate and maintain IV access, perform phlebotomy, and administer blood products
Assist with procedural sedation and monitor patient response
Manage behavioral health emergencies including suicidal patients, acute psychosis, and violent behavior
Provide care for pediatric and adult emergency conditions such as asthma, seizures, infections, and sickle cell crisis
Apply splints and assist with orthopedic emergency care
Maintain infection control protocols and isolation precautions
Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure coordinated patient care

Requirements:
Licensure: Active Maryland RN License or Compact License
Experience: Minimum 2 years of ER experience; previous charge experience required
Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS, CPI (required); NRP and TNCC preferred
Other requirement: Community hospital experience required; must be comfortable floating and working in high-acuity settings

Unit: Emergency Room - 2810-10777
Patient Ratios: 1:4 (up to 5 with lower acuity patients)
Patient Population: Neonates, Infants, Pediatrics, Adolescents, Adults, Geriatrics
Patient Diagnoses: Wide range of emergency conditions including trauma, cardiac, neurological, respiratory, infectious, and behavioral health cases
Number of Beds: 36
Daily Census: Approximately 90 visits per day
