Position Overview:

The Registered Nurse – Operating Room RN First Assist is responsible for providing perioperative nursing care for surgical patients across multiple specialties including orthopedic, gynecologic, robotic, general, and urologic procedures. The RN will function as a circulator and first assist while maintaining sterile technique, supporting surgeons intraoperatively, and ensuring patient safety throughout the surgical process.

Job duties:

Provide intraoperative nursing care as an OR Circulator and RN First Assist during surgical procedures.
Prepare and maintain sterile surgical environments and surgical instruments.
Assist surgeons during orthopedic, robotic, gynecologic, urologic, and general surgery procedures.
Perform patient positioning, surgical site preparation, and intraoperative documentation.
Monitor patient condition throughout surgical procedures and respond to changes in patient status.
Operate and assist with robotic surgical equipment including the Da Vinci Xi Surgical System.
Assist with total joint replacements, ORIF procedures, laparoscopic surgeries, hysterectomies, appendectomies, cholecystectomies, and C-sections.
Ensure compliance with infection prevention, sterile technique, and patient safety standards.
Coordinate with anesthesia providers, surgical technologists, and interdisciplinary surgical teams.
Provide post-procedure handoff communication and assist with patient recovery preparation.

Requirements:

Licensure: Active RN License required prior to start date
Experience: Minimum 2.5–3 years Operating Room RN experience preferred; strong orthopedic experience required
Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, CRNFA
Other requirement: Robotic surgery experience required. Charge experience preferred. Must be comfortable with circulating and first assist responsibilities across multiple surgical specialties.
