Description
Job Title: Registered Dietitian
Location: New York, NY 10035
Position Type: Travel
Duration: 14 Weeks
Shift Details:
- 5x8-hour day shifts
- Hours: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
- 40 hours per week
- Guaranteed hours based on facility requirements
Job Summary:
The Registered Dietitian is responsible for assessing patients' nutritional needs, developing care plans, and providing nutrition education. The role includes monitoring food and drug interactions, documenting patient progress, and collaborating with physicians to ensure appropriate dietary modifications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Screen and assess patients accurately and in a timely manner based on level of care
- Determine nutritional needs and provide ongoing follow-up care
- Interview patients and/or families to gather dietary history and preferences
- Interpret laboratory, physical, and social data related to nutrition care
- Provide nutrition education and document diet plans and patient understanding
- Monitor and document food and drug interactions
- Modify patient menus as needed
- Collaborate with healthcare teams regarding diet plans
Required Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Dietetics, Foods and Nutrition, or related field from an accredited institution
Experience:
- Minimum 1 year of experience required
- 2 years of experience preferred
Certifications & Licensure:
- For Post-Acute Care: New York State Certification as a Dietitian-Nutritionist (NYSED) required at the time of hire
- For Acute Care: Registration with the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) required
- BLS certification preferred
Additional Requirement (Post-Acute Care):
As per federal regulations (Section 483.60), all newly hired dietitians in long-term care settings must hold New York State certification as a Dietitian-Nutritionist at the time of hire.
