Facility: University of Maryland Medical Center - Downtown
Location: 22 S Greene St Baltimore, Maryland 21201
Start Date: 06/08/2026
Duration: 13 Weeks
Shift: Night Shift (07:00 PM – 07:30 AM)
Schedule: 3x12-Hour Nights
Charting System: EPIC (Required)
Note: CICU/CVICU RN | 1:1-1:3 ratio | First-time travelers accepted with strong CVICU experience | Weekend & holiday required
Position Overview:
The CCU/CVICU RN provides specialized critical care to cardiac patients requiring advanced hemodynamic monitoring, mechanical circulatory support, and post-cardiac procedure management in a high-acuity ICU setting.
Job Duties:
- Manage critically ill cardiac patients in CVICU/CICU setting
- Monitor and titrate vasoactive and cardiac drips
- Care for patients with IABP, Impella, VAD, CRRT, and ventilators
- Provide post-cardiac cath and post-cardiac surgery care
- Perform advanced cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia management
- Assist with bedside procedures including chest tubes, bronchoscopy, and line insertions
- Manage high-flow oxygen, BiPAP/CPAP, and ventilated patients
- Maintain accurate EPIC documentation and interdisciplinary communication
Requirements:
Licensure:
- Active RN License (MD or Compact State)
- Minimum 2 years CVICU/CICU experience required
- Strong experience with IABP and Impella required
- First-time travelers accepted with strong cardiac ICU background
Certifications:
- BLS, ACLS, CPI – Required
- NIHSS & CCRN – Preferred
Unit Details:
- Unit: Cardiac ICU (CCU/CVICU)
- Patient Population: Adults & Geriatrics
- Ratio: 1:1 to 1:3
- Daily Census: ~10 patients
- Beds: 15
Additional Information:
- Every other weekend required
- Holidays required as scheduled
- Floating required within specialty/lower acuity units as needed
- No scheduled on-call shifts
- Navy blue scrubs required
