Job Title: Registered Respiratory Therapist
Location: Raleigh, NC
Shift: Day or Night Shift
Schedule: 3x12 Hours
Weekly Hours: 36
Duration: 13 Weeks
Job Description:
The Respiratory Therapist II provides advanced respiratory care services under the direction of department management and established policies and procedures. Responsibilities include airway management, ventilator management, oxygen therapy, aerosol therapy, pulmonary procedures, and respiratory treatments designed to assess, stabilize, and improve patients' respiratory function. The therapist may also support specialized areas including ECMO and transport services when applicable.
Responsibilities/Duties:
- Administer respiratory care treatments including aerosol medication delivery, oxygen therapy, breathing exercises, and pulmonary function testing
- Manage airway care including tracheostomy care, suctioning, intubations, and extubations
- Perform ventilator setup, monitoring, troubleshooting, and weaning techniques using advanced ventilator modes
- Monitor patients for respiratory changes and provide appropriate interventions
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation and communicate effectively with healthcare teams
- Function independently with minimal supervision and serve as a resource for other staff members
- Support ECMO and advanced respiratory care procedures when assigned
- Follow UNC Air Care protocols when participating in transport services
- Maintain and improve clinical knowledge and technical skills
Requirements:
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a Respiratory Therapist required
- Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program
- Current Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification through NBRC required
- Must hold at least one of the following certifications based on practice area: ACLS, NRP, PALS, CPFT, or advanced practice certificate for moderate sedation
- Experience with adult patient populations required
- EPIC experience preferred
- Experience with SERVO U ventilators preferred
- Strong communication, clinical assessment, and critical thinking skills required
- NICU experience not required
