Job Title: Radiation Therapist
Location: Albany, NY
Shift: 07:30 AM – 04:00 PM
Schedule: 5x8 Hours
Weekly Hours: 40
Duration: 13 Weeks
Job Description:
The Radiation Therapist will administer ionizing radiation and radioactive substances to patients under the supervision of a Radiation Oncologist in accordance with New York State Department of Health guidelines. The therapist will safely operate high-voltage radiation equipment, monitor patients during treatment, and maintain accurate treatment documentation. The role requires strong technical knowledge, patient care skills, and adherence to radiation safety standards.
Responsibilities/Duties:
- Administer radiation therapy treatments as prescribed by the Radiation Oncologist
- Accurately enter and maintain patient treatment parameters in the EMR
- Interpret computerized treatment plans accurately
- Observe patients daily for reactions and report adverse reactions immediately
- Troubleshoot and assist with resolving technical equipment issues
- Maintain professional conduct and ensure patient well-being at all times
- Adhere to NYSDOH, ARRT, and ACRO radiation safety protocols
- Operate radiation therapy equipment including Varian Truebeam and Varian 21ix
Requirements:
- Minimum 2 years of Radiation Therapy experience required
- Must hold ARRT certification
- Must be licensed as a Radiation Therapist in New York State (license may be obtained during onboarding)
- Graduate of an AMA-approved Radiation Therapy Technology program
- Strong knowledge of radiation safety procedures and protocols
