Description

Position: ICU RN (Intensive Care Unit RN)
Location: Washington, DC (George Washington University Hospital)
Contract Length: 13 Weeks (06/15/2026 – 09/12/2026)
Shift: Nights, 3x12s (36 hrs/week, AM/PM rotation)

Required Experience

Minimum 3 years of ICU RN experience
Experience in a multidisciplinary ICU (neuro, trauma, cardiac, surgical, etc.)
Strong experience with high-acuity, critically ill patients
Experience with Cerner EMR required

Education

Graduate of an accredited or NLN-approved RN program
BSN – Highly preferred

Certifications & Licensure

Active Washington, DC RN License
AHA BLS (Basic Life Support)
ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
NIHSS (Stroke Certification) – Required

Additional Requirements

Must live at least 50 miles away from the facility
Ability to work rotating shifts (AM/PM)
Strong critical thinking and communication skills
Comfortable in high-acuity, fast-paced ICU environment

Role Responsibilities

Provide care for critically ill patients across multiple specialties (neuro, cardiac, trauma, pulmonary, surgical)
Operate and manage advanced ICU equipment including ventilators, arterial lines, central lines, and cardiac monitors
Assist with and monitor patients on advanced therapies (IABP, ECMO, Impella, CRRT)
Perform continuous patient assessment and implement care plans
Administer medications, IV infusions, and blood products
Collaborate with multidisciplinary care teams
Support and educate patients' families
