MRI Technologist
Location: New York, NY 10003
Duration: 9 Weeks
Shift: 4x10-Hour Days
Hours: 40 Hours per Week
Guaranteed Hours: Dependent on Facility Requirements
Schedule:
- Wednesday: 9:30 AM – 8:00 PM
- Thursday: 9:30 AM – 8:00 PM
- Friday: 9:30 AM – 8:00 PM
- Saturday: 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM
Job Summary:
The MRI Technologist operates specialized MRI equipment to perform diagnostic imaging procedures. This position requires technical expertise to obtain high-quality diagnostic images while ensuring patient safety and comfort throughout the examination process.
Responsibilities:
- Perform MRI imaging procedures according to established protocols.
- Position patients and MRI coils appropriately to obtain optimal imaging results.
- Educate patients regarding MRI procedures and provide necessary instructions.
- Review MRI safety questionnaires before patients enter the MRI suite.
- Ensure all MRI images are accurately labeled according to departmental standards.
- Evaluate image quality and transmit images to PACS in a timely manner.
- Complete and document studies within the Radiology Information System (IDX).
- Maintain cleanliness of MRI rooms and equipment at the beginning and end of each shift.
- Scan and manage patient-related documentation.
- Maintain adequate supplies and accessories required for MRI procedures.
- Accurately record patient tracking information in IDX.
- Schedule examinations as required.
- Report equipment malfunctions and unsafe conditions to appropriate personnel.
- Assist physicians during procedures when needed.
- Coordinate transportation and call for in-patients as required.
- Perform clerical duties in the absence of support staff.
- Follow MRI safety guidelines to prevent introduction of ferromagnetic materials into the scan room.
- Adhere to infection control policies and safety standards.
- Attend required in-services and professional development activities.
- Maintain all required licenses and certifications in good standing.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Skills & Experience:
- Strong knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy, physiology, physical sciences, and MRI physics.
- Excellent technical skills and understanding of MRI imaging procedures.
- Ability to produce high-quality diagnostic images while maintaining patient safety.
Preferred Skills & Experience:
- Minimum two (2) years of MRI experience.
Education Requirements:
- Graduate of an AMA/J.C.E.R.T. approved Radiologic Technology program.
Required Certifications & Licensure:
- New York State License in Diagnostic Radiology.
- A.R.R.T. MRI Registry.
- BCLS Certification.
