✅ 1 year Med-Surg/Telemetry experience required
✅ AHA BLS required
✅ NIHSS required before start
✅ Epic experience within the last 2 years (non-negotiable)
✅ NY RN License or proof of application at submission
✅ Comfortable floating between multiple Med-Surg/Tele units and ED Hold patients

Unit Overview

This is a Resource Pool/Float position, not a single-unit assignment.

You'll float among:

• R5 – Med Surg Oncology
• R6 – Med Surg Orthopedics
• R7 – Med Surg Urology/ALC
• ED Hold patients in the Emergency Department
• Potentially other telemetry units as needed

This assignment is best suited for nurses who:

• Adapt quickly to different patient populations
• Have strong time-management skills
• Are comfortable receiving assignments in multiple departments

Patient Ratios

• R5: 1:4
• R6: 1:4
• R7: 1:5

These are generally favorable ratios compared with many travel assignments.

Support Staff

Strong ancillary support:

• CNA/PCT coverage on all units
• Unit secretaries on all units
• Respiratory Therapy available 24/7

This typically reduces non-nursing workload.

Skills Expected

You should be comfortable with:

• Telemetry monitoring
• IV therapy
• Blood draws from central lines
• Glucose monitoring
• Bladder scanning
• Oncology, Ortho, and Urology patients
• Observation and ED Hold patients
