Position Overview
Cabell Huntington Hospital is seeking an experienced Cytotechnologist to join its Laboratory team. This role involves performing gynecologic and non-gynecologic cytology testing in a high-volume hospital laboratory while contributing to quality assurance initiatives and supporting accurate patient diagnoses.

Responsibilities

Screen and evaluate gynecologic and non-gynecologic cytology specimens microscopically.
Process and assess specimens using Thin Prep and related cytology techniques.
Participate in Quality Control (QC) and Quality Assurance (QA) programs.
Ensure proper specimen identification, labeling, and handling.
Assist with Fine Needle Aspiration (FNA) procedures and Rapid On-Site Evaluation (ROSE), when required.
Work closely with pathologists, laboratory staff, and healthcare providers to ensure timely and accurate diagnostic results.
Maintain compliance with all regulatory and accreditation standards.

Required Qualifications

Minimum 3 years of Cytotechnologist experience.
Current ASCP Cytotechnologist (CT) certification or equivalent.
Experience in:
- Gynecologic Cytology
- Non-Gynecologic Cytology
- Fine Needle Aspiration (FNA)
- Quality Control and Quality Assurance programs
- Specimen identification and labeling

Preferred Qualifications

Thin Prep Imager Certification.
ROSE (Rapid On-Site Evaluation) adequacy experience.
Experience with:
- Ascitic, gastric, esophageal, spinal, respiratory, and urinary cytology specimens
- FNA smear preparation and staining
- Flow Cytometry
- FISH testing
- Special stains and ancillary testing
