Registered Nurse – ICU
Facility: Meritus Medical Center
Location: Hagerstown, MD
Start Date: 07/06/2026
Duration: 13 Weeks
Shift: Night 3x12-Hour (18:30 - 07:00)
Schedule: 36 Hours/Week, Every Other Weekend Required
Charting System: Epic
Float Required: Yes – IMC
Call Requirement: No

Position Overview:
The ICU Registered Nurse provides specialized critical care nursing services to adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients with complex medical, surgical, trauma, cardiovascular, stroke, and neurological conditions. The RN is responsible for comprehensive assessment, advanced monitoring, management of life-support equipment, and coordination of care for critically ill patients in a high-acuity intensive care environment.
Job duties:
- Perform comprehensive assessments and ongoing monitoring of critically ill patients in the Intensive Care Unit.
- Monitor, interpret, and respond to cardiac rhythms, hemodynamic data, and changes in patient condition.
- Administer and titrate vasoactive medications, cardiac drips, continuous IV sedation, neuromuscular blockade agents, insulin infusions, and emergency medications.
- Manage ventilated patients, including ventilator monitoring, airway maintenance, tracheostomy care, suctioning, BiPAP/CPAP therapy, and high-flow oxygen delivery systems.
- Provide care for patients with trauma, cardiovascular, neurological, stroke, and post-surgical conditions.
- Manage arterial lines, central venous catheters, PICC lines, ports, and other invasive monitoring devices.
- Administer blood products and monitor for transfusion reactions and complications.
- Provide post-procedural care for cardiac catheterization, cardiovascular interventions, and neurological procedures.
- Recognize and respond to medical emergencies, rapid deterioration, multisystem organ failure, and code situations.
- Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, rehabilitation services, and interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes.
- Maintain infection prevention practices, isolation precautions, and adherence to patient safety standards.
- Document patient assessments, interventions, and responses accurately within the electronic medical record.
Requirements:
Licensure: Active RN License (Maryland or Compact License); Pending License Accepted
Experience: Minimum 3 Years ICU Experience Preferred; Strong candidates with 2 years of ICU experience may be considered; Travel Experience Required; Previous Charge Experience Preferred
Certifications:
- ACLS
- BLS
- NIHSS
Other requirement:
- Epic experience required
- Experience caring for ventilated patients
- Experience with arterial lines, central lines, and invasive monitoring
- Ability to titrate cardiac and vasoactive drips
- Experience with stroke, trauma, cardiovascular, and neurological patient populations
- Comfortable floating to IMC within scope
- No new graduate RNs
- First-time travelers not accepted
