Registered Nurse – IMC

Facility: Lovelace Medical Center (Ardent Health Services)
Location: Albuquerque, NM

Duration: 13 Weeks
Shift: Night 4x12-Hour (6:30 PM – 7:00 AM)
Schedule: 4x12 Nights (Option of 36 or 48 Hours), Minimum 6 Weekend Shifts per Contract
Charting System: Epic
Float Required: Yes – All PCU units, Med Surg, and ICU (for PCU assignment) as needed within scope
Note: Previous Charge Nurse experience required.

Position Overview:

The Intermediate Care Unit (IMC) Registered Nurse provides specialized nursing care for adult and geriatric patients with complex medical, neurological, respiratory, and cardiac conditions requiring intermediate-level monitoring. The RN delivers evidence-based care while collaborating with the interdisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient outcomes in a fast-paced step-down environment.

Job duties:

Provide comprehensive nursing care to intermediate care patients, perform ongoing patient assessments, monitor cardiac telemetry and dysrhythmias, administer medications including heparin protocols and cardiac drips (non-titration), manage respiratory therapies including BiPAP/CPAP, high-flow nasal cannula, oxygen therapy, and tracheostomy care, provide care for central lines, PICC lines, peripheral IVs, chest tubes, feeding tubes, and surgical drains, administer blood products, perform phlebotomy, manage stroke and neuro patients, provide pre/post hemodialysis care, collaborate with rapid response teams and interdisciplinary staff, maintain infection prevention and isolation precautions, perform wound care, educate patients and families, and accurately document patient care using Epic.

Requirements:

Licensure: Active New Mexico RN License or Compact RN License (Pending accepted; must be obtained prior to start)
Experience: Minimum 2 years of IMC/PCU/Stepdown experience required; Previous Charge Nurse experience required; Travel experience required (previous travel preferred)
Certifications: BLS (Required), ACLS (Required), NIHSS (Required), CPI (Preferred)
Other requirement: Experience with Epic EMR required. Proficiency in telemetry monitoring, respiratory care, stroke/neuro patients, IV therapy, blood administration, chest tubes, tracheostomy care, heparin protocols, wound care, renal failure, and intermediate care nursing. Must be willing to float to like units within scope.

Patient Population: Adults, Geriatrics
Patient Diagnoses: Gastrointestinal bleeding (GIB), pneumonia (Client), sepsis, respiratory diseases, stroke/neuro patients, and other intermediate care medical conditions.
