Job Title: Registered Nurse – Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU)
Location: 1400 Pelham Parkway South, Bronx, NY 10461
Facility: Jacobi Medical Center
Department: Recovery Room (PACU)
Start Date: July 20, 2026
Schedule: Days 3x12
Shift: 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM

Position Overview
Jacobi Medical Center is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to join its Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU). The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Medical/Surgical nursing, conscious sedation, IV therapy, and phlebotomy, with the ability to provide high-quality care to patients recovering from anesthesia and surgical procedures.

Key Responsibilities

Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients in the Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU).
Monitor patients during the immediate post-operative recovery period and assess for complications.
Administer medications and treatments in accordance with physician orders and nursing standards.
Perform IV insertion and phlebotomy procedures proficiently.
Safely manage and monitor patients receiving conscious sedation.
Assess patient conditions, document findings, and communicate changes promptly to the healthcare team.
Collaborate with physicians, anesthesiologists, and interdisciplinary team members to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Educate patients and families regarding post-operative care and discharge instructions.
Maintain accurate and timely documentation in accordance with facility policies.
Adhere to infection control, patient safety, and regulatory standards.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) (minimum requirement per requisition).
Active New York State Registered Nurse (RN) License.
Primary Source Verification of RN License and Registration through the New York State Department of Education (NYSED).
Current AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Current ACLS certification.
Minimum of two (2) years of Medical/Surgical nursing experience.
Minimum of two (2) years of IV insertion and phlebotomy experience.
Minimum of two (2) years of conscious sedation experience.
Excellent communication, critical thinking, and patient assessment skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Previous Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) experience is highly desirable.
Experience working in a fast-paced acute care hospital environment.
