Location: 1400 Pelham Parkway South, Bronx, NY 10461
Facility: Jacobi Medical Center
Department: Recovery Room (PACU)
Start Date: July 20, 2026
Schedule: Days 3x12
Shift: 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM

Position Overview
Jacobi Medical Center is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to join its Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU). The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Medical/Surgical nursing, conscious sedation, IV therapy, and phlebotomy, with the ability to provide high-quality care to patients recovering from anesthesia and surgical procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients in the Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU).
  • Monitor patients during the immediate post-operative recovery period and assess for complications.
  • Administer medications and treatments in accordance with physician orders and nursing standards.
  • Perform IV insertion and phlebotomy procedures proficiently.
  • Safely manage and monitor patients receiving conscious sedation.
  • Assess patient conditions, document findings, and communicate changes promptly to the healthcare team.
  • Collaborate with physicians, anesthesiologists, and interdisciplinary team members to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
  • Educate patients and families regarding post-operative care and discharge instructions.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in accordance with facility policies.
  • Adhere to infection control, patient safety, and regulatory standards.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) (minimum requirement per requisition).
  • Active New York State Registered Nurse (RN) License.
  • Primary Source Verification of RN License and Registration through the New York State Department of Education (NYSED).
  • Current AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Current ACLS certification.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of Medical/Surgical nursing experience.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of IV insertion and phlebotomy experience.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of conscious sedation experience.
  • Excellent communication, critical thinking, and patient assessment skills.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) experience is highly desirable.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced acute care hospital environment.
