Shift: 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM
Position Overview
Jacobi Medical Center is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to join its Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU). The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Medical/Surgical nursing, conscious sedation, IV therapy, and phlebotomy, with the ability to provide high-quality care to patients recovering from anesthesia and surgical procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients in the Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU).
- Monitor patients during the immediate post-operative recovery period and assess for complications.
- Administer medications and treatments in accordance with physician orders and nursing standards.
- Perform IV insertion and phlebotomy procedures proficiently.
- Safely manage and monitor patients receiving conscious sedation.
- Assess patient conditions, document findings, and communicate changes promptly to the healthcare team.
- Collaborate with physicians, anesthesiologists, and interdisciplinary team members to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
- Educate patients and families regarding post-operative care and discharge instructions.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in accordance with facility policies.
- Adhere to infection control, patient safety, and regulatory standards.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) (minimum requirement per requisition).
- Active New York State Registered Nurse (RN) License.
- Primary Source Verification of RN License and Registration through the New York State Department of Education (NYSED).
- Current AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Current ACLS certification.
- Minimum of two (2) years of Medical/Surgical nursing experience.
- Minimum of two (2) years of IV insertion and phlebotomy experience.
- Minimum of two (2) years of conscious sedation experience.
- Excellent communication, critical thinking, and patient assessment skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) experience is highly desirable.
- Experience working in a fast-paced acute care hospital environment.
