Description
Position: Registered Nurse (RN) – Cardiac Progressive Care Unit (PCU)
Shift: Days (7:00 AM – 7:30 PM)
Schedule: 3×12-hour shifts
Weekends: Rotating weekends
Holidays: As needed
Minimum Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of recent Cardiac PCU experience
- Must be comfortable with 1:5 patient ratios
- First-time travelers accepted
- Previous Charge RN experience preferred
- Experience with Rapid Response Teams preferred
- Epic EMR experience required
Required Certifications
- BLS
- ACLS
- NIHSS (Preferred)
Patient Ratios
- 1:4 for patients requiring drips or BiPAP
- 1:5 for most other patients
Unit Support
- Nurse Assistants available 24/7
- RN Unit Secretary available 7:00 AM – 11:00 PM
Required Skills
- Dysrhythmia interpretation and management
- Telemetry monitoring
- Pre- and post-cardiac catheterization care
- Peripheral IV and PICC line management
- Cardiac drips (including titration)
- Vasoactive drips (including titration)
- Procedural sedation administration
- Chest tube management (Emerson/Pleur-evac)
- CPAP/BiPAP management
- Tracheostomy care
Patient Population
Primary focus includes:
- Congestive Heart Failure (CHF)
- Acute Coronary Syndrome (Client)
- Cardiac arrhythmias
- Pre- and post-cardiac catheterization patients
- Rule-out myocardial infarction (MI)
- Syncope
- Pacemaker placement
Secondary focus includes:
- COPD
- Pneumonia
- Patients requiring BiPAP
Unit Information
- 30-bed private Cardiac Progressive Care Unit
- Cardiac monitoring provided remotely by the Centralized Cardiac Monitoring Department (CCMD)
