Description
Job Title: Travel RN – Labor & Delivery (L&D)
Location: Monroe, MI
Job Type: Travel Contract
Specialty: Labor & Delivery (L&D)
Minimum Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of recent Labor & Delivery RN experience
- Active Michigan RN License (must be in hand)
- First-time travelers accepted
- Experience with:
- L&D
- Mother/Baby
- Antepartum
- Postpartum
- Level I Nursery
- Community Hospital experience
Required Certifications
- Active Michigan RN License
- BLS
- ACLS
- NRP
Schedule
- Every Other Weekend Required
- Floating to Hickman as needed
- 7 days of RTO allowed (excluding holidays)
Unit Information
- 17 Labor & Delivery Rooms/Beds
- Birth Volume: 200–300 deliveries per month
- Level I Nursery
- Special Care Nursery (stabilize and transfer neonates)
- AWHONN Staffing Guidelines:
- 1:1 Labor Patients
- 1:3 Couplet Care
- 1:3 Mother/Baby
- Green Scrubs Provided
Responsibilities
- Provide care for antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum, and newborn patients.
- Monitor maternal and fetal status throughout labor and delivery.
- Circulate and scrub for Cesarean Sections.
- Assist with vaginal and operative vaginal deliveries.
- Recover post C-section patients.
- Perform fetal monitoring including EFM, FSE, and IUPC placement/monitoring.
- Stabilize neonates and assist with transfers when necessary.
- Administer medications including:
- Pitocin (Oxytocin)
- Magnesium Sulfate
- Terbutaline
- Antihypertensives
- Blood products
- Perform sterile vaginal examinations.
- Manage high-risk obstetric patients including:
- Pre-eclampsia/Eclampsia
- HELLP Syndrome
- VBAC
- Placenta Previa/Abruptio
- Multiple Gestation
- Preterm Labor
- Premature Rupture of Membranes
- Provide postpartum assessments and education.
- Assist with breastfeeding and lactation support.
- Perform newborn assessments and neonatal resuscitation.
- Document accurately using Epic EMR.
- Utilize Pyxis medication dispensing system.
- Collaborate with physicians, CNMs, anesthesiologists, CRNAs, respiratory therapy, pharmacy, and multidisciplinary teams.
