Description

Respiratory Therapist (CRT)
Location: Saint Lawrence - Canton - Potsdam Hospital, Potsdam,NY
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Day, 3x12, 7:00AM -- 7:00 PM
Start Date: 8/10/2026

Requirements:

Minimum 1 year of Respiratory Therapy experience.
First-time travelers accepted.
Active New York State Respiratory Therapist License, ACLS, BLS, CRT, NRP
Experience caring for adult, pediatric, newborn stabilization, ICU, ER, and Med/Surg patients.
Experience in:
- Adult Critical Care and Emergency Department
- Extubation
- Nasal and oral airway placement
- Nasal/oral suctioning
- Pulmonary hygiene
- Sputum specimen collection
- Tracheostomy care and suctioning
- Mechanical ventilation management and weaning
- High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC), BiPAP, and CPAP
- Troubleshooting high-pressure ventilator alarms
- Interpretation of Arterial Blood Gases (ABGs)
Proficient in administering respiratory medications including:
- Albuterol, Atrovent, Combivent, Flovent
- Inhaled steroids
- Isuprel, Lidocaine
- Perforomist, Pulmicort
- Racemic Epinephrine
- Spiriva, Terbutaline Sulfate
- Tobramycin, Xopenex
Experience with aerosol therapy equipment including:
- Aerosol mask and trach setup
- Medihaler
- Metered Dose Inhaler (MDI)
- Hand-held nebulizer
- T-piece
- Trach collar
Preferred ventilator experience:
- Servo I
- LTV
- Hamilton T1
