Location: Mount Sinai St. Luke's Hospital, New York, NY
Facility: Mount Sinai Health System
Contract Duration: August 31, 2026
Schedule: Nights, 3 x 12-hour shifts (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) for its Stepdown Unit. The RN will provide high-quality, patient-centered care to adult patients requiring intermediate-level monitoring and treatment. The ideal candidate will have strong Stepdown, Cardiology, Telemetry, and Ventricular Assist Device (VAD) experience, along with the ability to care for patients with tracheostomies and ventilator support.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver safe, evidence-based nursing care using the nursing process.
- Assess, monitor, and manage patients in the Stepdown unit.
- Care for patients requiring cardiac monitoring, telemetry, and VAD support.
- Provide tracheostomy care, including trach-to-ventilator management.
- Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement care plans.
- Educate patients and families regarding treatment plans and discharge care.
- Document patient care accurately using Epic EMR.
- Promote patient safety and adhere to infection prevention and hospital policies.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and maintain professional nursing standards.
- Float to Medical-Surgical units as needed.
Requirements
- Active New York State Registered Nurse (RN) License.
- BLS Certification.
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience.
- Minimum 2 years of Stepdown, Cardiology, Telemetry, and VAD experience.
- Experience caring for patients with tracheostomies and ventilator support.
- Previous travel nursing experience preferred.
- Epic EMR experience highly preferred.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and critical thinking skills.
- Ability to work every other weekend and adapt to floating assignments.
