Description
🩺 Registered Nurse – Orthopedic (Ortho)
📍 Greensboro, NC
⏳ 13 Weeks Contract (Extension Possible)
🚀 Start: 08/24/2026
Shift: Night – 3x12 Hour Shifts (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
• Every Other Weekend (EOW) required
• One holiday and one holiday eve shift required during the holiday period
• No on-call required
• EPIC documentation system utilized
🏥 Unit Details:
• Orthopedic Unit specializing in pre-operative and post-operative orthopedic care
• Care for both elective orthopedic and orthopedic trauma patients
• Typical Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:6 (may stretch to 1:7 based on census)
Patient Population Includes:
• Total Hip Replacements
• Total Knee Replacements
• Total Shoulder Replacements
• Orthopedic Repairs
• Orthopedic Trauma Patients
Special Equipment:
• Safe Patient Handling Equipment
• Continuous Passive Motion (CPM) Machines
• Knee Immobilizers
• Bone Foam Positioning Devices
• Other orthopedic specialty equipment
📋 Requirements:
• Active RN License
• Minimum 2 years of Orthopedic nursing experience required
• No first-time travelers
• BLS Certification required
• EPIC experience required
⭐ Preferred:
• ACLS Certification
• Previous Charge Nurse experience
• Experience with Rapid Response Teams
🩺 Required Skills:
• Orthopedic nursing experience
• Pre-operative and post-operative orthopedic care
• Orthopedic trauma patient care
• Patient assessment and monitoring
• Rapid Response Team utilization
• Pain management and mobility assessment
• Safe patient handling techniques
• Medication administration and wound care
• EPIC documentation proficiency
• Multidisciplinary patient care coordination
🩺 Responsibilities:
• Provide comprehensive nursing care to orthopedic and trauma patients
• Care for patients undergoing elective and emergency orthopedic procedures
• Monitor patients throughout the pre-operative and post-operative phases of care
• Assist with early mobilization and rehabilitation efforts
• Utilize orthopedic specialty equipment safely and effectively
• Respond appropriately to patient condition changes and Rapid Response activations
• Maintain accurate documentation in EPIC
• Collaborate with orthopedic surgeons, therapists, and interdisciplinary care teams
• Deliver safe, high-quality, patient-centered orthopedic care
