Description
📍 Burlington, NC
⏳ 13 Weeks Contract (Extension Possible)
Shift: Day – 3x12 Hour Shifts (7:00 AM – 7:30 PM)
• Weekend rotation required
• Holidays as needed
• Typical ratio: 1:5
• Ratio may be 1:4 for patients requiring drips/BiPAP
• First-time travelers accepted
• EPIC documentation system utilized
🏥 Unit Details:
• Focused primarily on cardiac progressive care
• Secondary focus on respiratory conditions
Primary Cardiac Patient Population:
• Congestive Heart Failure (CHF)
• Acute Coronary Syndrome (Client)
• Cardiac Arrhythmias
• Rule-Out Myocardial Infarction (MI)
• Syncope
• Pre/Post Cardiac Catheterization patients
• Pacemaker placement patients
Secondary Respiratory Population:
• COPD
• Pneumonia
• Patients requiring BiPAP
📋 Requirements:
• Active RN License
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience required
• Cardiac PCU experience required
• Must be comfortable with a 1:5 patient ratio
• BLS Certification required
• ACLS Certification required
• EPIC experience required
• First-time travelers accepted
⭐ Preferred:
• NIHSS Certification
• Previous Charge RN experience
• Rapid Response Team experience
🩺 Required Skills:
Cardiac & Telemetry
• Telemetry – on-unit cardiac monitoring
• Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
• Management of cardiac patients with CHF, Client, arrhythmias, and syncope
• Pre- and post-cardiac catheterization care
• Pacemaker placement care
• Rule-out MI management
IV & Vascular Access
• Peripheral IV care and management
• PICC line management
• Cardiac drip management
• Vasoactive drip management
• Cardiac drip titration
• Vasoactive drip titration
Respiratory
• CPAP/BiPAP management
• Tracheostomy management
• Chest tube management – Emerson/Pleur-evac
Procedures
• Procedural sedation administration
• Rapid Response Team utilization
🩺 Responsibilities:
• Provide comprehensive nursing care to high-acuity cardiac PCU patients
• Monitor cardiac rhythms and identify changes in patient condition
• Care for patients before and after cardiac catheterization procedures
• Manage cardiac and vasoactive infusions according to facility protocols
• Titrate cardiac and vasoactive drips as clinically indicated
• Provide respiratory support including CPAP/BiPAP
• Manage chest tubes, PICC lines, and peripheral IV access
• Respond appropriately to cardiac emergencies and Rapid Response activations
• Maintain accurate documentation in EPIC
• Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary care teams
