Registered Nurse – Operating Room

Shift: Mid 5x8-Hour (14:45 - 23:15)
Schedule: 5x8 Evenings; every other weekend; holidays as scheduled

Float Required: Yes — within specialty and to sister Laurel campus as needed
Call Requirement: Yes — 5-6 calls per 4-week period, including one weekend call
Note: Level II Trauma Center. First-time travelers accepted with strong General OR and robotics experience. Must be able to scrub and circulate. 

Position Overview:

Registered Nurse – Operating Room position responsible for providing perioperative nursing care in a Level II Trauma Center. The RN will scrub and circulate across a broad range of surgical specialties, including general surgery, trauma, urology, orthopedics, plastics, neurology, gynecology, ENT, vascular, cardiovascular, bariatrics, endoscopy, and robotic procedures.

Job duties:

• Provide safe perioperative nursing care while scrubbing and circulating during surgical procedures.
• Perform infection control, specimen handling, universal protocol/time-out procedures, and surgical safety practices.
• Prepare and manage surgical equipment, instrumentation, supplies, and specialized technology including robotic systems.
• Assist with patient positioning, urinary catheterization, wound management, blood product administration, and peripheral IV initiation as required.
• Monitor and respond to intraoperative patient needs while supporting emergency management, radiation safety, and malignant hyperthermia protocols.

Requirements:
License: Active Maryland RN or Compact RN license
Experience: 3 years required; 2 years considered for strong candidates. Strong General OR, scrub/circulate, and robotics experience required. Community hospital experience required; teaching hospital and Level I trauma experience preferred.
Certifications: BLS required (AHA); ACLS, CNOR, and NIHSS preferred
Other requirement: Must be comfortable floating within specialty and to Laurel campus. Must participate in 5-6 call shifts per 4-week period and rotational weekends. Flu vaccine required with no exemptions.
