Description
Northern Nevada Sierra Medical Center
Location: Reno, NV
Specialty: NICU RN
Shift: 3×12s Days
Hours: 36 hours/week
REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum 2 years of Level III NICU experience required
- 3 years of NICU experience preferred/required per unit description
- Must have experience caring for micro-preemies
- Must be proficient with:
- Mechanical ventilators
- High-frequency oscillators
- Pressors
- Non-invasive CPAP
- Nitric oxide therapy
- STABLE certification required
- NRP required
- BLS required
- Current RN license required
- Must live at least 100 miles from the facility
NICU PATIENT POPULATION
The NICU cares for neonates ranging from approximately 23 weeks gestation to 4 months. Patients are primarily admitted from Labor & Delivery and may have conditions including:
- Extreme prematurity
- Respiratory distress syndrome
- Sepsis
- Hypoglycemia
- Congenital anomalies
- Seizures
- Meconium aspiration syndrome
CLINICAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Care for high-acuity premature and critically ill neonates
- Manage mechanical ventilation, high-frequency oscillation and CPAP
- Administer and monitor pressors and nitric oxide therapy
- Respond to neonatal emergencies
- Attend C-sections and high-risk deliveries
- Assist with intubations and bedside procedures
- Peripheral IV insertion and septic workups
- Percutaneous catheter insertions
- Parenteral therapy
- Blood and blood product administration
- Medication administration and vital-sign monitoring
- Bronchopulmonary hygiene
- Parent education and support
