Gouverneur Correctional Facility is a medium security State Prison with a maximum Security Residential Rehabilitation Unit within the same facility, located in St. Lawrence County. The facility houses a total of approximately 725 male incarcerated individuals at this time. The total hours needed would be 40 hours per week for each position and the positions are considered an 8 hour shift, with 2-15 minute breaks built in. The shifts would primarily be 6a-2p, 2p-10p & 10p-6a. This position would also require weekends and holidays. Adherence to Security procedures, professional conduct and dress code are required, as well as a general working knowledge of the NYSDOCCS Employee Handbook.

The candidates must have a current and valid NYS license and at minimum, one full year of medical/surgical, Emergency Room or ICU,CCU hospital Nursing.

Job description: To provide professional nursing services to include emergency care, chronic care and assessment for mental health care to a challenging incarcerated individual population.

Nursing interventions: SOAP form of charting documentation of all case findings, health care teaching/counseling and provision of supportive and/or restorative care. The candidate will be expected to participate in staff training, assist in preparation of clinical and administrative reports and maintain all up-to-date infection control standards is required. The selected candidate will also be required to function as a member of an already established excellent treatment team. Excellent/accurate assessment skills are a must, as is all medical documentation of these assessments.
