📍 Location: Bel Air, Maryland
🏥 Facility: University of Maryland Upper Chesapeake Medical Center
⏳ Contract: 20 Weeks
🕐 Shift: Nights | 3×12 Hours
⏰ Schedule: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
 

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of ICU experience

• BLS required

• ACLS required

• NIHSS required

• EPIC charting experience

• First-time travelers welcome

• Strong critical-care experience required

• Must be comfortable floating within specialty/acuity

• Weekend coverage: Every 3rd weekend

• No on-call requirement

Patient Population & Clinical Experience

The ICU cares for adult and geriatric patients with a broad range of critical conditions, including:

• ICU / Surgical ICU

• Stroke

• Renal failure requiring CRRT/CVVHD

• MI requiring IABP

• Respiratory failure

• Pneumonia

• Post-cardiac arrest

• DKA

• High-acuity surgical patients

• Rotoprone therapy

Critical Care Skills

Experience with the following is highly desirable:

• Care of ventilated patients

• Chest tube insertion/removal assistance

• ABG interpretation

• Continuous IV sedation

• Emergency medications

• Central line management

• PICC line management

• Blood product administration

• Starting and maintaining IVs

• CRRT/CVVHD

• Hypothermia protocols / Arctic Sun

• Dysrhythmia interpretation and management

• Cardiac monitoring

• IABP

• Infection prevention

Unit & Staffing Details

• Patient Ratio: Approximately 1:3

• Daily Census: 12

• Rooms: 14

• Patient Population: Adults and geriatrics

• Float: Required within specialty/acuity

• Weekend: Every 3rd weekend

• Call: None

• Orientation: 24 hours

• EMR: EPIC

• Respiratory Therapy

Special Equipment

The unit utilizes advanced critical-care equipment, including:

• CRRT carts

• Universal critical airway cart

• Chest tube carts

• Central line carts

• Temporary pacemaker carts

• Bronchoscopy carts

• Malignant Hyperthermia carts

• Emergency carts

• Ceiling lifts
