Description
Job Title: RN – Telemetry
Shift: Days 3x12hrs
Location: 1000 10th Ave New York, NY 10019
Facility: Mount Sinai West
Unit: Med Surg/Telemetry
Position Summary
The Clinical Nurse is a Registered Professional Nurse responsible for providing safe, competent, and high-quality patient care based on nursing theory, research, evidence-based practice, and organizational nursing standards.
Unit & Schedule
- Unit: Med Surg/Telemetry
- Beds: 24
- Average Unit Census: 22
- Staffing Ratio: 1:5
- Schedule: 3 × 12-hour shifts
- Day Shift: 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM
- Weekends: Every other weekend (EOW) required
- Experience: Minimum 2 years of RN experience
- Travel Experience: 1 year required for Travel positions; not required for Per Diem positions
Required Qualifications
- Active New York State RN License
- BLS
- ACLS
- Telemetry experience
- Ventilator experience
- Minimum 2 years of Telemetry & Critical Care experience
- EPIC experience highly preferred
- ACLS certification required
Education
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) considered with relevant experience and/or active enrollment in a BSN program
Key Responsibilities
Patient Care
- Provide safe, evidence-based, patient-centered nursing care.
- Assess and evaluate patient needs and apply critical-thinking skills.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized plans of care.
- Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary healthcare teams.
- Prioritize patient care, education, rounding, discharge planning, and delegation.
- Educate patients and caregivers regarding treatment plans, transitions of care, health promotion, and disease prevention.
- Maintain effective and professional communication with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
Patient Experience
- Promote Mount Sinai's Relationship-Centered Care model.
- Conduct purposeful hourly rounding and address patient needs.
- Establish therapeutic relationships with patients and families.
- Demonstrate compassion, empathy, respect, and active listening.
- Address patient concerns and escalate issues appropriately when needed.
Quality & Safety
- Provide safe and efficient patient-centered care.
- Identify and escalate safety concerns and opportunities for improvement.
- Follow evidence-based practices, hospital policies, and regulatory requirements.
- Participate in quality-improvement initiatives and nursing research activities.
- Maintain accurate and thorough clinical documentation.
Operations
- Perform charge nurse responsibilities when assigned.
- Coordinate appropriate utilization of supplies and resources.
- Assist with patient throughput and efficient patient flow.
- Escalate staffing, supply, or resource concerns appropriately.
Professional Development
- Maintain and advance clinical nursing competencies.
- Participate in unit initiatives, committees, and shared decision-making.
- Promote a professional, respectful, and collaborative work environment.
- Pursue continuing education and lifelong professional development.
Note: Weekend requirements apply, and candidates should be comfortable caring for Med Surg/Telemetry patients, including those requiring ventilator management.
