Familiarity with Kronos a HUGE plus.\n\n***No additional pay for on call hours.*** \n\nJob Function\n\n \u2022Requires flexibility and adaptability to ensure unit is staffed appropriately at all times.\n\n \u2022Assigns personnel, as necessary and in congruence with their skills to optimize patient care.\n\n \u2022Functions in the role of charge nurse when working clinically.\n\n \u2022Leading the \u201Chuddle\u201D at the beginning of each shift and reviewing the shift operational plan of care with incoming staff\n\n \u2022 Maintaining department schedule and time card management of assigned staff.\n\n \u2022 In collaboration with the Director, Evening and night associate nurse manager, clinical resource nurse and Nurse Educator, develops standards for care and updates and revises procedures and policies, as necessary.\n\n \u2022Oversees and maintains OB Nursing, PCT, L&D scrub tech and UC Schedules\n\n \u2022With the Nurse Director of OB and Nurse Educator, develops and revises procedures and policies in accordance with best practices. Follows established hospital guidelines for developing and implementing new policies.\n\n \u2022In collaboration with the Director and Associate Nurse Manager, evaluates staff performance based on developed standards. Utilizes hospital performance review tool to write and deliver assigned annual performance reviews.\n\n \u2022Participates in interview process for hiring of new staff\n\n \u2022Utilizes constructive conflict management strategies, just in time coaching and goal setting to optimize staff performance and engagement.\n\n \u2022Promotes professional development of staff.\n\n \u2022Participates in the development, monitoring and evaluation of clinical and patient satisfaction initiatives, standards of nursing practice and outcomes of patient care.\n\n \u2022Represents the organization in a professional manner in communication, attire and interaction with others.\n\n \u2022In collaboration with the Director and nurse educators, provides staff education on an ongoing basis. This includes new policies, Joint Commission standards, DPH requirements, new equipment/products and clinical software programs\n\n \u2022Establishes and maintains effective communication in all areas of responsibility.\n\n \u2022Participates in quality assurance and improvement initiatives and engages staff to participate in audit activities and action plan implementation.\n\n \u2022Orients or delegates responsibility for orientation of personnel and works with the nurse educator to assess successful acquisition of positional competence.\n\n \u2022Assumes responsibility with the Director, Obstetrical Nursing for optimal maintenance and utilization of supplies and equipment.\n\n \u2022Maintains and supports patients\u2019 rights to care, privacy and respect.\n\n \u2022Provides and/or assists in direct patient care.\n\n \u2022Participates in hospital committees and programs, as appropriate.\n\n \u2022Serves as OB Dept Dayshift Charge RN on other duty days and partners with clinical resource nurses to support operations which include weekends and holidays;\n\n \u2022Performs all duties listed in the RN job descriptions for labor and delivery, postpartum, and special care nursery.\n\n \u2022Maintains and supports patient\u2019s rights to care, privacy and respect.\n\n \u2022Other duties as assigned from time to time.\n\n Minimum Qualifications\n\n \u2022 Education: Bachelor\u2019s degree in nursing preferred\n\n \u2022 Experience: Minimum five years of experience in obstetrical nursing with demonstrated leadership abilities required\n\n \u2022 Evidence of continued professional growth and knowledge of new trends and developments in nursing and patient care\n\n \u2022 Previous supervisory experience preferred\n\n \u2022 Licensure and/or Certification: \n\n \u2022 Current licensure to practice professional nursing in Massachusetts required\n\n \u2022 BLS and ACLS healthcare provider required\n\n \u2022 NRP required\n\n \u2022 In patient OB certification strongly preferred Guaranteed Hours: Contract Weeks:89
