Description
The Labor and Delivery nurse assumes responsibility andaccountability for the application of the nursing process and the delivery ofpatient care in the L&D Setting. TheLabor and Delivery nurse demonstrates the ability to make clinical judgments inan effective and efficient manner with supervision.
The labor and delivery nurse works with Mothers during thefinal stages of pregnancy helping with birthing, monitoring the Mother’s vitalsigns, and becoming astute in signs and symptoms of possiblecomplications. The labor and deliverynurse is involved in patient education and addressing the psychosocial needs ofMothers after delivery and demonstrates critical thinking and performanceability in the coordination of patient care. Consistently performs according to nursing standards and is accountablein managing patient care and assisting others in the management of patientcare.

*Tothe best of our ability we follow AWHONN staffing guidelines which includesnurse:patient ratios of 1:1 for Pitocin and active labors/intermittentmonitoring, a 1:2 for cervical ripening and a 1:1 with Pitocin, 1:2 for highrisk medication including Magnesium Sulfate and Insulin drips, and 1:3 forAntepartum and Postpartum couplets.*
Requirements:
- New Hampshire or Compact RN license – Required
- BLS & ACLS – Required
- NRP – Required
- AWHONN Intermediate Electronic Fetal Monitoring – Required
- Level 1 or Level 2 trauma experience within the last 2 years – Required
- Labor & Delivery experience – Minimum 2 years required
- Cerner EMR experience – Required
- Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in state/district – Required
- If there is an employment gap, include reasoning in the resume
- Current CPR certification (if applicable)
- TB questionnaire, PPD, or chest X-ray (if applicable)
- Must meet all federal, state, and local requirements
- Must be at least 18 years of age
