The Progressive Care Unit RN, as a professional practitioner, assumes the responsibility and accountability for delivering patient care to telemetry/progressive care patients. The Progressive Care Unit RN demonstrates the ability to make clinical judgments in an effective and efficient manner with supervision. This individual employs critical thinking and performance ability in the coordinator of patient care, consistently performs according to nursing standards, and is accountable in managing patient care and assisting others in the management of patient care.  The Progressive Care Unit RN is sometimes also called a step-down nurse, cardiac stepdown, neuro stepdown, surgical stepdown and in some medical centers, the PCU is also known as a transition or intermedia unit. 

Minimum Requirements:

• Current Registered Nurse License for the state in which the nurse practices
• One year prior professional nursing experience preferred with one year progressive care unit experience preferred
• Current CPR if applicable
• TB questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable 
• Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation) 
• Must meet all federal, state and local requirements 
• Must be at least 18 years of age 

PCU / Step-Down RN – Travel Assignment

Location: Level I Trauma Center -  Torrance, CA
Start Date: ASAP (Onboarding ~3 weeks; LA County clearance required)
Contract Length: 13 Weeks
Shifts Available:

• Day Shift: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM (10 openings)
• Night Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM (10 openings)

Position Overview

We are seeking experienced PCU/Step-Down Registered Nurses for a fast-paced facility in Torrance, CA. Candidates must have a minimum of 3 years of Step-Down experience and be comfortable floating to PCU units caring for patients requiring constant cardiac monitoring and intervention for life-threatening or emergency situations. Patients may be recovering from surgery or managing complex medical conditions.

Requirements

• Licensure: Active RN license
• Experience: Minimum 3 years in Step-Down Unit
• Certifications:
  • ACLS
  • PALS
  • NIHSS
  • MAB or CPI

Assignment Details

• Start: ASAP (after LA County clearance)
• Duration: 13 weeks
• Schedule: 12-hour shifts (Days or Nights)
• Pay: $2,768 weekly
• $966 taxable income
• $1,802 stipends
• Local Pay: $56/hr
