Public Health Registered Nurse
Location: Raleigh, NC
Schedule: 40 hours/week
Contract Length: 26 weeks
Start Date: June1, 2026
About the Role
The STD/STI Public Health Nurse (PHN) plays a critical role in protecting community health through the prevention, identification, treatment, and education of sexually transmitted infections. This nurse will work directly with diverse patient populations, including underserved and vulnerable groups, to provide confidential testing, counseling, treatment support, and community outreach.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide STD/STI testing, screening, and treatment support
• Conduct patient education on prevention, transmission, and risk reduction
• Perform HIV/STD counseling, follow-up, and partner notification as required
• Support family planning services and reproductive health initiatives
• Collaborate with physicians, state regulators, and multidisciplinary teams
• Maintain accurate documentation and comply with all public health protocols
• Participate in community outreach and health promotion activities
• Ensure culturally competent, confidential, and patient-centered care
Minimum Requirements
• Active Nursing License in the state of practice
• Two (2) years of public health, community health, or sexual health experience preferred
• Compliance with all relevant professional standards of practice
• Current BLS certification
• Must meet all federal, state, and local employment requirements
• Must be at least 18 years old
