Job Opportunity
Position Summary
We are seeking a dedicated Nuclear Medicine Technologist to provide high-quality patient care. This role involves operating Nuclear Medicine equipment, evaluating radiographic images, performing radionuclide procedures, and ensuring strict adherence to safety protocols.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and administer radiopharmaceuticals to patients.
- Conduct radionuclide procedures, including organ imaging and function studies, and assist physicians in therapeutic radioisotope applications under prescribed safety conditions.
- Calibrate equipment and assay radionuclides.
- Receive and inspect radiopharmaceutical packages in compliance with state and NRC guidelines.
- Maintain accurate records of radioisotope usage, storage, and disposal according to state and federal regulations.
- Ensure cleanliness and order in work areas, maintaining contamination-free conditions for rooms, equipment, and personnel.
- Evaluate images using the PACS system to confirm proper identification and diagnostic quality.
- Rotate work assignments as needed between Nuclear Medicine and PET/CT.
- Perform daily clerical duties, including patient scheduling and using patient care systems.
- Provide excellent patient interaction, greeting patients upon arrival and adhering to A.I.D.E.T. standards.
- Modify care delivery based on the specific needs of the patient population served, ensuring effective communication at their developmental and educational levels.
- Comply with all policies related to attendance, punctuality, and behavior standards.
Work Schedule
This position requires flexibility to work various shifts, including:
- 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM
- 10:00 AM - 6:30 PM
- Weekends and holidays as needed
Qualifications
- Required Education: High School Diploma or equivalent; graduation from an accredited School of Nuclear Medicine Technology.
- Experience: Minimum of 1 year of clinical experience in a busy hospital setting as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist is required. Preference for candidates with 2+ years of experience.
- Licensure: Valid NJDEP license required. ARRT or NMTCB registry is mandatory. BLS certification by the American Heart Association is required.
Skills
- Proficient in performing Nuclear Medicine and PET/CT procedures.
- Strong understanding of safety protocols related to radiation protection.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a clinical team environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for optimal patient interaction.
