Job Opportunity
Job Summary
The role involves providing immobilization devices as required and selecting and operating Nuclear Medicine equipment as directed. The successful candidate will evaluate radio images using the PACS System to ensure accuracy and diagnostic value, while adhering to safety protocols for both patient and self.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and administer radiopharmaceuticals to patients.
- Perform radionuclide procedures including organ imaging and function studies.
- Assist physicians in the therapeutic use of radioisotopes under established safety conditions.
- Prepare radioactive tracer compounds for patient use.
- Calibrate equipment and assay radionuclides.
- Receive and inspect radiopharmaceutical packages per state and NRC guidelines.
- Maintain accurate records of radioisotope receipt, use, storage, and disposal according to regulations.
- Ensure cleanliness and contamination-free conditions in the work area.
- Follow all NRC and State JCAHO guidelines and practices.
- Utilize PACS workstation to evaluate images for proper identification and diagnostic quality.
- Rotate work assignments as necessary, including Cardiology and PET/CT.
- Complete daily clerical tasks including patient scheduling and management through various systems.
- Provide excellent patient interaction and service in alignment with organizational standards.
Qualifications
Required Skills & Experience
- Minimum of 1 year of clinical experience as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist in a busy hospital setting.
Education
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nuclear Medicine Technology.
Certifications & Licensure
- Valid NJDEP license.
- ARRT or NMTCB registry.
- BLS certification by the American Heart Association.
Work Schedule
The position requires flexibility to work shifts including weekends and holidays as required. Must be available for potential overtime to ensure quality patient care.
Additional Requirements
Candidates must demonstrate awareness of the specific needs of the patient population served and effectively communicate with patients and caregivers at their level of understanding.
