We are seeking a skilled Registered Nurse specializing in the Operating Room for a travel position in a teaching hospital located in [City, State]. This role requires a commitment of 3 years of clinical experience in the Operating Room.

Key Requirements

  • BLS
  • CNOR (preferred)
• Charting System: Epic preferred
• Teaching Hospital Experience: Preferred

Essential Skills

Preferred skills include proficiency in:

• General Surgery: Appendectomy, Cholecystectomy, Colon resection, Hernia repair, Laparoscopic procedures, Mastectomy, Thyroidectomy, Whipple procedure.
• Gastrointestinal: Scrubbing for bariatric surgeries including gastric bypass, gastric sleeve, lap band, and laparoscopic assisted cases.
• Thoracic Surgery: Lobe resection, lung resection via thoracotomy, VATS, and mediastinoscopy.
• Gynecology: Abdominal and vaginal hysterectomy, anterior/posterior repair, bilateral tubal ligation, and therapeutic abortion.
• Neurology: ALIF, anterior cervical fusion, craniotomy, and lumbar fusions.
• Orthopedic Procedures: ACL reconstruction, spinal fusion, and total joint replacement.
• Robotics: Experience with Da Vinci Xi Surgical System.
• Vascular Surgery: Aortic aneurysm repair and carotid endarterectomy.

Additional Responsibilities

• Administration of blood and blood products
• Collaboration with interdisciplinary teams including IV Team, Physical Therapy, and Pharmacy
• Adherence to infection control protocols and safety regulations
• Utilization of universal protocols, including time-out procedures

Preferred Attributes

Candidates should possess a strong background in diverse surgical procedures, particularly in areas such as orthopedics (total joint and trauma), neuro, gynecology/urology, vascular, and thoracic surgeries.
