Job Summary

The Neurointerventional Radiologic Technologist is responsible for executing routine to complex diagnostic and therapeutic procedures under the supervision of a physician in the Angio Interventional Radiology or Neuro IR services. This includes conducting extra-cranial and intracranial angiography, vertebroplasty, spinal injections, myelograms, cisternograms, embolizations, cryoablations, coilings, and clot retrievals. Primary customers include healthcare employees, medical staff, patients, and regulatory agencies, with a strong emphasis on enhancing customer service.

Job Responsibilities

• Provide technical support for a range of IR and neurointerventional procedures, including discograms, aspirations, therapeutic injections, angiography, and ablations.
• Assist in both sterile and non-sterile neurointerventional procedures such as embolization for tumors, epistaxis, and spinal lesions.
• Operate advanced imaging equipment in accordance with established guidelines and imaging protocols for interventional and neurointerventional patient procedures.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards and adherence to radiation safety practices.
• Instruct and mentor students and residents, fulfilling preceptor duties as required.
• Conduct quality assurance checks on imaging equipment.
• Assist in maintaining inventory supplies for all IR and neuro IR procedures.
• Utilize UHS information systems, including online IR scheduling.
• Review and ensure accurate coding procedures for billing of neuro IR and IR procedures.
• Engage in continuous learning by attending lectures, seminars, and reading educational materials to stay updated on new techniques and technologies.
• Adhere to clinical principles, methods, and procedures while performing or supervising all interventional diagnostic procedures.
• Maintain patient and hospital information confidentiality.
• Comply with all hospital policies and procedures, including those related to incident reporting.
• Perform additional related duties as required.

Education

Required Education

Associate’s degree in Radiologic Technology.

Required Certifications & Licensure

• New York State license as a Radiologic Technologist
• ARRT(R) Certification
• BLS Certification (AHA, HSI, or American Red Cross)

Schedule

This position requires a schedule of 13 weeks from 7:30 AM to 6:00 PM, with weekend coverage expected every other weekend and a commitment to 4 ten-hour shifts.
