Position Summary

This is a full-time opportunity for a Physical Therapist to provide quality outpatient and inpatient care. The role involves treating patients of all age ranges and varying diagnoses, adhering to the state's physical therapy scope of practice. The selected candidate will incorporate evidence-based practices into patient care plans and demonstrate professionalism, ethical behavior, and respect for cultural diversity when delivering patient services. Modifications to care plans will be made based on age-specific and patient-specific considerations.

Position Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited program in Physical Therapy.
• No minimum clinical experience is required; hospital-based experience is an advantage.
• Must be licensed in good standing in Alaska as a Physical Therapist, or possess completed paperwork to work as a Student Physical Therapist while preparing for the licensure examination.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
• Experience in a hospital-based environment is preferable; standard equipment includes hi-lo tables, whirlpools, therapeutic exercise equipment, ultrasound, and electrical stimulation modalities.
• Village-based practice usually requires therapists to bring necessary patient care items, such as therabands and exercise programs.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret physical therapy periodicals and medical literature.
• Proficient in composing patient care documentation and medical correspondence.
• Effective communication skills with medical staff, peers, administrative personnel, and diverse cultural backgrounds, including those with limited English proficiency.
• Proficient in operating a personal computer, including basic Microsoft Office applications and email; capable of utilizing the internet for accessing relevant medical literature.
• Mathematical skills are necessary for computations involving addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages, and the interpretation of bar graphs.
• Adept in solving practical problems under various circumstances with limited standardization.
• Ability to interpret a variety of instructions provided in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Shift Information

Monday through Friday, day shifts.

Holiday Coverage

Holiday coverage is not required.

Experience Requirements

A minimum of three years of experience is preferred.
