Position Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Nurse Manager for our Obstetrics unit with a strong background in maternity services. This role is pivotal in ensuring high-quality patient care and effective team management within our facility.
Schedule
- Shift: Monday - Friday, 08:00 AM start, 40 hours/week
- Weekend Requirements: None
- Holiday Rotation: Required to work 1-2 of the three summer holidays (Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day)
Core Responsibilities
- Oversee daily operations of the maternity unit, including the management of staff and patient care.
- Ensure adherence to protocols and quality standards in patient care.
- Coordinate with the healthcare team to facilitate smooth workflow and effective patient services.
- Participate in budgeting and financial oversight with visibility into department financials.
- Respond to unit-related inquiries and support staff as needed.
Unit Information
- Bed Size: 16 Maternity, 12 Nursery, 4 NICU, 1 C-section suite, Overflow rooms
- Patient Ratios: 2:1
- Patient Types: Antepartum, Mother-Baby, Newborn, OB/GYN, NICU
- Delivery Volume: 50-60 births per month
- Level of Care: Level 2 maternal/neonatal center
Qualifications
- 24 - 36 months of experience in maternity services, including Labor & Delivery, Mother-Baby, Postpartum, NICU, and Nursery.
- Minimum of 15 months of interim leadership or nurse manager experience in maternity, obstetrics, or similar settings (supervisor experience is not considered).
- Experience with EPIC electronic medical records.
- Prior completion of at least one travel contract within the past 15 months is required.
- Experience with glucose, magnesium, and Pitocin is highly preferred.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree is required; a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree is preferred.
Additional Information
- The nurse manager will oversee a team of 47 FTEs, including Techs and RNs.
- Conduct emergency drills monthly to ensure readiness for maternal and neonatal emergencies.
- Management of high-risk patients includes administering treatments such as magnesium sulfate and insulin drips.
- Collaborative and supportive work environment with a focus on exceptional patient care and teamwork.
