Position Summary

We are seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse to join our surgical services team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing professional nursing care based on current perioperative nursing knowledge, using established standards and practices to ensure patient safety and optimal outcomes across various age groups from pediatric to geriatric.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop a comprehensive plan of care based on ongoing assessments in the holding area, operative suite, and post-operative setting.
• Identify patient strengths and weaknesses while adapting to surgical interventions.
• Continuously update care plans to address existing or potential issues.
• Ensure the availability and functionality of supplies and equipment for surgical patients.
• Maintain a sterile environment throughout surgical procedures following aseptic principles.
• Implement perioperative nursing techniques while responding to physiological changes during procedures.
• Document individualized care plans and any changes appropriately.
• Provide patient and family education regarding surgical procedures and care.
• Stay abreast of advancements in perioperative nursing and participate in ongoing education and training.

Minimum Requirements

• Education: Completion of an accredited registered nurse program is required; a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is preferred.
• Experience: A minimum of 2 years of experience in an operating room setting is required.
• Licensure: Must hold a valid Registered Nurse license in the State of Pennsylvania.
• Certifications: Must meet the American Heart Association's standards for Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), renewing these certifications every two years.

• Strong verbal, non-verbal, and written communication skills.
• Exemplary professionalism in all interactions with patients, families, and colleagues.
• Demonstrates emotional resilience and sound judgment in high-stress situations.
• Knowledge of perioperative nursing practices and commitment to ongoing professional development.

Shift Information

This position requires 8-hour shifts from Monday to Friday, rotating through the following schedules: 0630-1500, 0900-1730, and 1100-1930. Weekend shifts and call opportunities are available on a voluntary basis.

Holiday Coverage

Holiday coverage is required.
