Job Summary

The position involves ensuring the timely, accurate, and reliable delivery of Respiratory Therapy services to inpatients, outpatients, and associated community groups. The role will support the evaluation and treatment of patients as needed.

Job Responsibilities

• Administer respiratory therapy procedures as directed by management.
• Perform Aerosol Therapy treatments.
• Conduct CPT/Flutter/PEP Mask therapy for secretion mobilization.
• Carry out Incentive Spirometry therapy.
• Provide M.D.I. therapy.
• Execute suctioning procedures.
• Manage extubation procedures.
• Ensure Oxygen Tank Safety adherence.
• Administer Oxygen Therapy using approved devices.
• Manage BiPAP-CPAP therapy and monitor alarms.
• Implement Cough Assist/Vest therapy.
• Manage High Flow Cannula/Humidifier therapy and alarms.
• Conduct Pulmonary Function Screen diagnostic procedures.
• Perform Fit Testing in coordination with Employee Health.
• Carry out Pulse Oximetry procedures.
• Conduct Adult and Pediatric EKG procedures.
• Administer Adult, Pediatric, and Neonatal BLS life support.
• Manage Mechanical Ventilation and ventilator alarms.
• Perform arterial puncture and analysis for Blood Gas Laboratory.
• Conduct Quality Control for the Blood Gas Laboratory.
• Manage patient healthcare information systems.
• Oversee medication administration and dispensing systems.
• Verify physician’s orders for pulmonary and cardiology procedures.
• Record and report results of all procedures accurately.
• Provide BLS when necessary and ensure certification is current.
• Abide by departmental Delivery Standards and maintain records.
• Assist in departmental in-service programs.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Preferred Skills & Experience

• One (1) year of experience as a Respiratory Therapist.

Education

• Required: Graduation from an accredited School for Respiratory Therapy.
• Preferred: N/A

Required Certifications & Licensure

• New York State Respiratory Therapy Permit or License.
• Registered by the NBRC as a Respiratory Therapist.
• BLS and ACLS Certification from the American Heart Association (AHA).

Schedule Notes

The position is for night shifts, totaling 36 hours per week, with day shift orientation. Critical care experience, including NICU, and familiarity with V60 BiPAP/980 Puritan Bennett Ventilators and EPIC, are required. Travelers must be able to participate in external patient transports.
