Job Summary

This role is responsible for ensuring the appropriate administration of medications to patients, focusing on both the clinical appropriateness of the medication and the proper delivery method.

Job Responsibilities

• Interpret and, if necessary, clarify orders or prescriptions from physicians and authorized practitioners, intervening when clinically appropriate.
• Ensure orders and prescriptions are filled following professional standards, as well as state and federal laws, and departmental policies.
• Engage in communication with patients when necessary, conducting prescription counseling and educational activities as required by law.
• Maintain accurate documentation of controlled substances as mandated by the pharmacy department and all regulatory agencies.
• Oversee and supervise technical staff during medication distribution activities.
• Maintain a general understanding of the prescription processing workflow.
• Prepare, supervise, and verify the preparation of compounded products.
• Prepare and execute pharmacy-related documents and reports to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

• One (1) year of experience as a pharmacist.

Education

Required Education

• Bachelor of Science Degree (B.S.) in Pharmacy.
• OR a Pharm.D. from an accredited college or university.

• Licensed as a Pharmacist in New York State or possess a New York State internship permit.

Schedule Notes

Retail pharmacies operate on a 40-hour work week over 12 weeks, with shifts scheduled Monday through Friday from 7 AM to 9 PM (including a mix of 8-hour and 12-hour shifts) and Saturday & Sunday shifts from 7 AM to 7 PM (also a mix of 8-hour and 12-hour shifts). Experience with EPIC/WAM is preferred.
