Position: Physical Therapist

Location: Mattoon, IL

Work Schedule

This position offers an 8-hour day shift from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, with the option of working four 10-hour days per week. A 40-hour work guarantee is provided, and there are no weekend or on-call requirements.

Job Summary

Physical Therapists play a crucial role in planning and executing rehabilitation programs to assist patients in regaining a higher level of physical function. Utilizing a diverse range of skills, including therapeutic exercise, neuromuscular re-education, physical modalities, gait training, and manual techniques, our therapists exemplify effective communication and strong interpersonal abilities to motivate patients and deliver compassionate care.

Key Responsibilities

• Apply knowledge of anatomy, exercise physiology, biomechanics, kinesiology, neuroscience, and pharmacology.
• Collaborate with other facility staff members to enhance patient care while maintaining a clean and effective rehabilitation environment.
• Develop individualized plans for patients after the completion of their Plan of Care, including a suitable home exercise program and discharge instructions.
• Create a Plan of Care based on initial and ongoing evaluations, incorporating short and long-term goals, collaboration with personnel, and engaging patients and caregivers.
• Document patient progress in accordance with medical documentation standards and facility procedures.
• Assess mobility, strength, and overall patient function, setting attainable improvement goals proportional to patient abilities.
• Implement the Plan of Care consistently and adjust it based on patient progress.
• Maintain open communication between therapy staff and other department personnel involved in patient care.
• Manage patient records, ensuring compliance with third-party payer requirements for certifications and authorizations.
• Continuously enhance professional and technical knowledge through educational workshops and reviewing relevant publications.
• Conduct initial and ongoing physical therapy evaluations adhering to established standards of practice.
• Supervise and guide physical therapy assistants as necessary and in a professional manner.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of experience as a Physical Therapist in an inpatient setting.
• Current and active Illinois Physical Therapist License.
• Active BLS (Basic Life Support) certification from the American Heart Association.
