Description
Position: Registered Nurse - PACU
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Registered Nurse specializing in Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) to provide high-quality patient care. This role involves working effectively in a dynamic environment while ensuring the well-being of patients transitioning from anesthesia.
Shift Details
- Shift Type: Day, 5x8-Hour (07:00 - 15:00)
- Float Requirement: Yes, between pre-op, post-op, and PACU
- Weekend Requirement: No
- Orientation Hours: 8
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of RN experience in all phases of care, particularly in the PACU setting.
- Previous charge experience is required.
- Patient Ratio Experience: 1:1 to 1:5.
- Charting System: Epic experience is mandatory.
- Travel Experience: Not required.
Certifications
- ACLS (preferred)
- BLS (preferred)
- PALS (preferred)
Skills and Expertise
- Respiratory: End-Tidal CO2 monitoring, airway assessment, chest tube management, extubation, LMA/ET, fresh tracheostomy, intubation, oral/nasal airway placement.
- Cardiovascular: Management of cardiac arrest, cardioversion, pacemaker insertion, post-cath lab procedures, and vascular surgery.
- IV Therapy and Phlebotomy: IV access and management, blood product administration, central line care, PICC line management, and starting and maintaining IVs.
- Patient Care Settings: Ambulatory/outpatient, Phase I PACU, Phase II Recovery, pre-and post-operative care.
- Neurological: Experience in managing anterior/posterior fusions, craniotomies, spinal surgeries, and stroke assessments.
- Medications Management: Administration of antiarrhythmics, anticoagulants, antihypertensives, IV vasopressors, narcotics, procedural sedation, and reversal agents.
- Pediatrics: Experience managing pediatric patients, including in ENT procedures.
Surgical Cases and Anesthesia Types
- Experience with surgical cases including cardiac, neuro/spine, orthopedic, vascular, ENT, GYN, and general surgery.
- Familiarity with anesthesia types: conscious sedation, general anesthesia, monitored anesthesia care (MAC), and spinal anesthesia.
Facility and Patient Care Information
- Type of Facility: Short-Term Acute Care / Level III Trauma Center.
- Total Staffed Beds: 104.
- Daily Patient Census: 36 - 52.
- Interdisciplinary Support: Includes physical therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, and social services.
- Special Procedures: Offers a wide range including colon/EGD procedures, urology, neuro, orthopedics, GYN, and plastics.
