Description
Position: Registered Nurse - Progressive Care Unit (PCU)
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Registered Nurse to join our Progressive Care Unit team. This position offers the opportunity to provide high-quality nursing care to patients requiring close monitoring and specialized services.
Key Details:
- Location: Anchorage, AK
- Shift: Night shift, 3x12 hours (19:00 - 07:30)
- Assignment Length: 13 weeks
- Patient Ratio: 1:4
- Daily Census: 36 patients
- Number of Beds: 36 beds
Qualifications:
- Active Alaska RN license required for auto offer
- Minimum of 1 year of nursing experience in a similar setting
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients in the PCU, including monitoring and assessment.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to develop and implement patient care plans.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed and manage IV therapy.
- Perform patient education and support during admission, discharge, and care transitions.
- Utilize advanced monitoring technology and respond effectively to patient needs.
- Assist in the care of patients with a range of diagnoses, including cardiac, respiratory, and neurological conditions.
Skills and Experience Preferred:
- Experience with BiPAP/CPAP management, chest tube management, and high flow nasal cannula.
- Knowledge in interpretation of arterial blood gases (ABGs) and dysrhythmias.
- Experience in telemetry monitoring and management of complex medical surgical patients.
- Familiarity with co-care/virtual nursing models and interdisciplinary collaboration.
Work Environment:
The Progressive Care Unit is a stepdown unit from the ICU, catering to a diverse patient population. The unit employs a co-care model with a virtual nurse and certified nursing assistant (CNA) supporting the bedside RN.
Additional Information:
- Weekend coverage is required, which may be more frequent based on staffing needs.
- Comprehensive orientation provided, approximately 12 hours.
- Free parking available at the facility.
