Description
Position Overview
This position is located in the Outpatient Rehabilitation Services Department and focuses primarily on delivering comprehensive Speech-Language Pathology evaluations and treatments for both adult and pediatric patients. The clinician will demonstrate professionalism, respect confidentiality, and adhere to quality service standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide services based on physician referrals across various settings, including inpatient, outpatient, Home Health, and Long-Term Care.
- Conduct assessments and evaluations to identify therapy diagnoses, develop treatment plans with specific goals, and implement therapy services.
- Act as the primary therapy provider, overseeing and modifying the therapy plan based on patient assessments to enhance patient outcomes.
- Review clinical records and case histories while participating in care conferences and collaborating with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care.
- Document findings and treatment plans accurately, including diagnoses, treatment strategies, recommendations, and prognoses according to organizational policies.
- Develop and perform patient and family education programs tailored to specific needs, including facilitating self-care and independence.
- Engage in community service through therapy programs at community health services and other venues.
- Assist with administrative duties and maintain clinic operations efficiently.
- Stay informed on regulatory requirements and ensure compliance with facility standards and practices.
- Educate clinical staff and patients on various SLP issues and contribute to departmental management and continuing education initiatives.
Work Environment
The role may require adapting to various work settings, including potential travel to remote locations for several days under varying weather conditions. The environment may include interacting with diverse personalities and managing challenging situations; thus, strong interpersonal and judgment skills are vital.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program.
- Holder of the Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP).
- State of Alaska licensure in Speech-Language Pathology.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Experience in outpatient and pediatric settings is required.
Shift Information
This position offers a full-time schedule, with specific shift details subject to organizational needs. The pediatric clinic operates from 8 AM to 6 PM, Monday through Friday.
Additional Information
Participation in holiday coverage is not required. Candidates should be prepared to demonstrate their expertise and commitment to quality patient care in a dynamic work environment.
