Job Summary

The Nuclear Medicine Technologist plays a vital role in patient care by providing immobilization devices and operating Nuclear Medicine equipment as directed. This position involves evaluating radio images using the PACS system to ensure proper identification and diagnostic value, as well as ensuring radiation protection for both the technologist and the patient in accordance with safety protocols.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and administer radiopharmaceuticals to patients.
• Perform radionuclide procedures, including organ imaging and function studies, while assisting physicians in therapeutic radioisotope applications under safety conditions.
• Calibrate equipment and assay radionuclides for accurate testing.
• Receive and inspect radiopharmaceutical packages, adhering to state and NRC guidelines.
• Maintain comprehensive records of radioisotope receipt, usage, storage, and disposal according to state and federal regulations.
• Ensure cleanliness and contamination-free conditions of workspaces, equipment, and personnel.
• Follow all NRC and state JCAHO guidelines and practices.
• Evaluate images using the PACS workstation for proper identification and diagnostic value.
• Rotate work assignments as necessary, including Cardiology and PET/CT areas.
• Perform clerical duties, utilizing EPIC, Teletracking System, Nuclear Medicine Information System, and managing patient scheduling and studies processing.
• Maintain punctuality and adhere to policies regarding attendance and behavior standards.
• Identify and address the specific needs of diverse patient populations, communicating effectively at their comprehension level.
• Participate in scheduled shifts, which include weekends and holidays as needed, ensuring quality patient care.

Required Skills & Experience

• A minimum of 1 year of clinical experience in a hospital setting as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist is required.

Education

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Graduate of an accredited School of Nuclear Medicine Technology is required.

Certifications & Licensure

• Must hold a valid NJDEP license.
• ARRT or NMTCB registry is required.
• BLS certification by the American Heart Association is required.

Schedule

This position offers an 8-hour shift from 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday, with two additional Wednesdays a month as needed. The role requires one Saturday per month.
