Job Summary

The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for protecting, promoting, and optimizing the health of individuals and families through the prevention of illness and injury, and the alleviation of suffering. This role involves the diagnosis and treatment of human responses while advocating for patients. The RN must comply with all standards of practice and demonstrate professional development in accordance with applicable nursing practices and ethical guidelines. The RN fosters a caring and healing environment that emphasizes patient-centered care.

Job Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, delegate, coordinate, implement, and evaluate nursing care for a group of patients, serving as the primary and accountable nurse as designated.
• Educate patients and families on health promotion and disease management utilizing available resources.
• Administer medications safely according to established policies, leveraging a working knowledge of pharmacology.
• Participate in productivity and effective resource utilization, including staffing, time management, and supply management.
• Adhere to nursing practice standards, regulatory requirements, and organizational policies.
• Support the Nursing Shared Governance Model by engaging with the Unit Council, participating in improvement initiatives, and contributing to peer review practices.
• Engage in ongoing professional development, continuing education, and fulfill all mandatory educational requirements.
• Integrate nursing research and current evidence into clinical practice.
• Create a supportive learning environment for new employees and students.
• Uphold organizational values while performing assigned duties.

Skills

Required Skills & Experience

• Registered Nursing (RN) experience of six (6) months to three (3) years.
• Management experience of zero (0) to three (3) years.
• Five plus (5) years of direct nursing experience.
• Strong collaboration and communication skills (both verbal and written).
• Judgement and critical thinking abilities.
• Organizational understanding and planning skills.
• Effective problem-solving capabilities.
• Commitment to quality and reliability in nursing practices.
• Focus on safety and risk management protocols.

Preferred Skills & Experience

• Previous clinical nursing experience in an acute care or ambulatory setting.

Education

Required Education

• A graduate of an accredited school of Nursing.

Preferred Education

• Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing.

Certifications & Licensure

Required Certifications & Licensure

• Current NYS RN License.
• BLS Certification (AHA, HSI, or American Red Cross).
• Unit-specific requirements as listed in the Compliance Matrix.

Preferred Certifications & Licensure

• Professional certification in a related nursing specialty.
• Relevant skills certification (i.e., ACLS, PALS, TNCC) as required by the assigned unit.

Schedule Notes

Full-time position available, requiring night shifts with a specific rotation including every other weekend. Experience in Med/Surg and oncology preferred, with chemotherapy administration experience highly appreciated.
