Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Medical Surgical Telemetry Registered Nurse to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in medical-surgical nursing and telemetry monitoring, ready to provide high-quality care to our patients.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive care for patients with a variety of diagnoses, including diabetes, dementia, COVID-19, pneumonia, and renal failure.
• Monitor and interpret telemetry data and dysrhythmias, managing patient conditions effectively.
• Administer medications, including blood products and insulin, and perform procedures such as IV starts, phlebotomy, and central line management.
• Manage respiratory interventions including BiPAP/CPAP, high flow nasal cannula, and oral suctioning.
• Ensure proper care of colostomy/ileostomy and feeding tubes, and manage bowel obstruction cases.
• Participate in rapid response and code team calls as needed.
• Document patient care accurately and maintain communication with the healthcare team.
• Provide pre and post-operative care for patients, including those undergoing cardiac procedures.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in a medical-surgical or telemetry nursing role.
• BLS and NIHSS certification required.
• Charge nurse experience preferred.
• ACLS and telemetry monitoring certifications preferred.
• Experience with electronic documentation systems is a plus.
• Ability to float to different units as necessary.

Shift Details

Shifts available are night shifts from 18:45 to 07:15. Candidates may choose to work 36 or 48 hours per week and must be willing to work every other weekend.

Contract Information

This role requires a minimum contract length of 13 weeks, with flexibility for extensions. All staff may be required to work during catastrophic events or disasters.

Patient Population

The unit cares for a diverse patient population with conditions including, but not limited to, sepsis, GI bleed, CHF, hypertension, and post-operative recovery cases.

Other Requirements

• Must pass EKG testing prior to start.
• 7 days maximum of requested time off (RTO) allowed per contract.
• Attendance during holidays is mandatory.

Uniform Requirements

Navy blue or white scrubs are required for the position.

Orientation

A comprehensive orientation of 24 hours will be provided to all new staff.
