Position Overview

We are currently seeking a skilled Registered Nurse specializing in MedSurg/Telemetry to join our healthcare team. This position involves caring for patients primarily diagnosed with neurological conditions, including stroke and other neuro-related disorders.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality patient care in a MedSurg/Telemetry setting.
• Monitor and interpret telemetry readings, managing dysrhythmias effectively.
• Administer medications and perform procedures such as IV starts as required.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
• Participate in the care of stroke and neurosurgery patients, as well as those with varied neurological diagnoses.
• Adhere to all established protocols and policies during patient care.
• Float to other MedSurg/Telemetry areas as needed, including COVID care units.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience; at least 1 year must be in a MedSurg setting.
• Prior traveler experience is required, with at least 2 successful contracts completed.
• Certifications: BCLS, NIH, NIHSS; ACLS is preferred but not required.
• Strong skills in IV therapy and telemetry interpretation.
• Must pass EKG testing prior to starting the role.

Schedule and Shifts

• Work on a 12-hour night shift schedule.
• Shifts will be assigned for three nights per week.
• Must be available to work every other weekend.
• If additional time off includes weekends, the time will be added to the end of the contract.

Patient Care Environment

The unit provides a supportive environment focused on patient-centered care for a daily census of 42, with a total of 43 available beds. Staff will engage with a variety of patient cases, particularly in a specialized Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU).

Additional Information

• Successful candidates will undergo a comprehensive orientation lasting 36 hours.
• All nurses must wear navy scrubs while on duty.
• Call-outs may require make-up shifts within the same week or at the end of the contract.
